Are you able to help provide clean drinking water?

africa clean water

As you may know, today is World Water Day. This year, I'm sending a different message than years past. Usually, it's a reminder to buy some coffee to help provide clean drinking water for those in developing countries. But this year, it's a request to make a donation for clean water.

Over the past year, due to the pandemic, numerous of our partners have been limited in travel and unable start new projects. As they are beginning to travel, numerous urgent needs are arising, and our partners are reaching out to see if Three Avocados is able to provide funding. While we are in a position to provide some funding, the need is greater than what we can provide.

One example is a project that Compassion International reached out about this past week. They have a need in Burkina Faso, where the nearest water source is OVER THREE MILES AWAY. This project involves drilling multiple deep borehole wells (Burkina Faso borders the Sahara Desert in Western Africa), and installing solar panels to generate electricity for the borehole pumps. This is a $90,000(!!) project, however, $60,000 is already covered by another donor.

We would love to be able to say yes to this project, as well as to other partners. The good news is that we have an anonymous donor willing to match all donations today, up to $5,000. So, every dollar you give will turn into $2.

We certainly know that many people have been impacted by the pandemic, and we understand many are not in a position to be able to give. However, if you are in a position to give, even $1, we ask you to consider this need.

And, as always, the net profits from all coffee and merchandise purchases are used to fund clean water projects, and we certainly appreciate all of our customers and monthly subscribers.

Thank you so much for all of your support over the years, and for your consideration this year.
